Call to Worship - Ginny Ellis

Today is Father’s Day, so we give our greetings and appreciation to families as you celebrate or perhaps remember the people who have been fathers in your lives.  But also June is Pride Month.  I invite you to come before God to acknowledge not only fathers and family connections, but also the diversity of God's people and the inclusion of all, recognizing how that shapes us as a church.

Holy God, often called by the name Abba, Father, we thank you for all those in whom the light of love shines forth. Hear us as we worship, as we pray, and as we sing.

Opening Hymn #409: “God is Here!” ABBOT’S LEIGH

Moment for Reconciliation - Dave Hunt

Our Lord was a Lord who turned things upside down and inside out; a man who dined with sinners; a man who befriended prostitutes and tax collectors; a man who was called heretic; a man who broke Sabbath rules; a man who changed water into wine.

And he bids us to follow him; to turn things upside down and inside out; to go where the hurting is; to change water into wine; to change who we are into the Kingdom of God.

What do we believe about our faith?

We believe in God who has created and is creating, who has come in the truly human Jesus, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit.  We trust God, who calls us to be the church, to celebrate life and its fullness, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us.  We are not alone.  Thanks be to God.

Lighting the Peace Candle and Passing the Peace - Ginny Ellis
