Creator God you made all that is, all of us as we are.
Son of God, you died that all might know what abundant and eternal life can be.
Spirit of God, we thank you for all those in whom the light of love shines forth.
May we be people of that light.
May we be a church of welcome, a safe place for all your people.
Opening Hymn #385: “All People That on Earth Do Dwell” OLD HUNDREDTH
Prayer for Reconciliation - Jeanie Barnes
Lord, we confess we don’t know how to say “Thank You” for splendor, for a cool breeze on a hot, humid day, for a warm embrace of reassurance, for freedom to decide about tomorrow.
Lord, we confess we don’t know how to say “Thank You” for pain,
for tears of a realized failure, for a truth broken, for a love not returned.
We’d rather say: “Take back your gift.”
Lord, we confess we don’t know how to say “Thank You” for the dance of life. Forgive and help us, O Giving God.
Give us hearts for gratitude, and lives of hope. Amen.
Time for silent prayer
Assurance of Pardon - Jeanie Barnes
If anyone is in Christ, that person becomes a new person altogether.
The past is finished and gone. Everything has become fresh and new.
Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
Lighting the Peace Candle and Passing the Peace - Jeanie Barnes
The peace of Christ be with you. / And also with you.
