Call to Worship - Rev. Libby Shannon
Look to the stars—filling the sky with light!
God’s word is a light, shining bright in the darkness.
Look to the stars—spread across the universe, farther than any eye has seen.
God is everywhere present, whether we go to the ends of the earth or depths of the sea.
Look to the stars—more than we even have numbers to count.
God’s grace is beyond imagining, beyond language, beyond counting.
Look to the stars—signs of God’s promise, shining through all generations.
We come to worship God, in whom we trust.
Opening Hymn #485: “We Know that Christ is Raised” ENGELBERG
Unison Prayer of Confession - Rev. Libby Shannon
God of grace, we confess that we are more eager to receive your mercy than we are to extend your kindness to others. We ask for what we need without considering whether we have what someone else needs. We seek your forgiveness but hold grudges against others.
We want you to lead us, but only if you will send us where we want to go. By your grace, we want to turn this around. We choose to give you more than we think we can spare; to forgive even those who have yet to ask for forgiveness; to follow you wherever you choose to lead us. Receive our commitment to new life, in Jesus’ matchless name.
Passing of the Peace - Rev. Libby Shannon
May the peace of Christ be with you / And also with you.
Response #71 refrain (sung twice) FIRST SONG
Surely it is God who saves me, I will trust and not be afraid.
For the Lord is my stronghold and my sure defense and God will be my Savior.
