Call to Worship - Rev. Jeanie Barnes

The Word comes to us in the alarm clock – waking us up to an entirely new and unlived day.
Praise God for a new day!
The Word comes to us in nature: in sunshine and wind, in rainstorms and rainbows.
Praise God for the awe and the mystery!
The Word of God comes to us in street signs:  Stop, Go, Yield the Right of Way.
Praise God for keeping us going.
It comes to all of us: a group of people united in task.
               Praise God for the Church.
It comes to us as love. The love of God, which passes all understanding.
The love which wakes us, shakes us and gives us courage to live.

Praise to the God of Love!

Worship Song: “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” - FPC Praise Band

Prayer of Confession - Jeanie Barnes

O God, you call our names.  When we hesitate to follow you, or when we cling to known and familiar ways, or when we fear to step out in faith, break down the barriers in our hearts.  Forgive our halting steps and our shy voices.  Give us courage to carry your truth wherever you send us.

(We keep silence for personal prayer.) In Christ we pray, Amen.

Assurance of God’s Pardon - Jeanie Barnes

You people of God!  Why do you sit around looking mournful?  What a silly bunch you are…

Wake up:  You are Alive!  God has proclaimed you free.
Free?  But what about all those things we confessed? Do you mean we aren’t going to be held accountable?
Those things are part of you, but God has accepted them and you, too. You are a forgiven people, accepted and loved as you are. Lift your hearts: you are new.
               Praise be to God!

Passing of the Peace - Jeanie Barnes

Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another.  The Peace of Christ be with you all. / Peace also be with you.
