Advent Candle Lighting/Reading - Don & Jeannie Doddridge
This second week of Advent we light the second candle: the Candle of Peace. Now in the Advent wreath we see a growing light in our darkness. Listen for the word of Peace as we find it in Zechariah’s song in Luke 1: 78-79:
By the tender mercy of our God the dawn from on high will break upon us.
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Prayer: Merciful God, you sent your messengers the prophets to preach repentance and prepare the way for our salvation. Grant us grace to heed their warnings that we may be ready to greet the coming of the Savior with joy and follow in the Savior’s way of peace.
